Idiot Image Tools was built around one simple idea: everyday image editing tasks — compressing a photo, resizing a banner, removing a background, converting a file format — should not require installing heavy software, creating an account, or uploading your personal pictures to an unknown server. Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your own web browser using JavaScript, the HTML5 Canvas API, and, for a few advanced tools, small open-source AI models loaded from a public CDN. In every case, your images never leave your device.
We focus on a single category, Image Tools, and try to do it well rather than spreading across dozens of unrelated categories. Each tool is built to solve one clear, specific job, from compressing a JPEG to automatically removing a photo's background, so you can find exactly what you need without wading through irrelevant features.
Because processing happens client-side in your browser, we never see, store or transmit the photos you work with. A handful of tools, such as the OCR text extractor, background remover and AI upscaler, download a small model file from a public CDN the first time you use them, but that download is the tool's own program code, not your photo.
